Dr. Behrouz Moemeni is the founder and CEO here at SortSmart. He is compelled by a vision to change the education system. He believes everyone deserves access to higher education. Dr. Moemeni is meticulous about scientifically proven programs, services and products created here at SortSmart. He blames this on his training as a scientist and he holds a Ph.D. in the field of Immunology from the University of Toronto. He is the recipient of 19 awards for his work during his undergraduate and graduate years, including the Prize in Biology. He has delivered several presentations at international scientific conferences and his scientific work in the areas of cancer biology and immunology, has culminated in several discoveries and the publication of three peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Moemeni has also taught a course at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and an undergraduate level course at the University of Toronto.

His motivation-based admissions screening strategy has appeared in Diverse Issues in Higher Education, University World News, CMAJ News, and Nature Jobs. Matty Mehrabi has multiple degrees and certifications in the health care sector and has been practicing in this field for 20 years. She holds a bachelor of science in midwifery, masters of education in health care, registered nurse status, as well as a clinical research certification.
Matty received her bachelor of science in the field of midwifery in 1993. Upon graduation, she enrolled in post-graduate studies and received her Masters of Education in the area of health and healthcare.
Her combined practical experience and graduate level degree in education naturally led Matty towards her passion of teaching. Over the next several years, she taught nursing and midwifery to undergraduate and graduate students at various academic institutions.
In 2004, Ms. Mehrabi successfully completed the Canadian Registered Nurse examination and has since been practicing as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital. Moreover, as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), she has taken the lead in coordinating various research projects at the University of Toronto, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre.
